Capon Valley Bank Announces Key Promotions and Welcomes New Branch Manager
Wardensville, WV — Capon Valley Bank is pleased to announce two well-earned promotions and the addition of a new team member as part of the bank’s continued growth and commitment to community banking.
Melba Thorne has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Virginia Team Leader/Business Development Officer. Melba began her career with Capon Valley Bank in October 2018 as the Branch Manager for the Stephens City location. With 39 years of banking experience, she brings a deep understanding of the industry and local markets. She began her career with Grant County Bank, another Highland Bankshares, Inc. subsidiary, and has served in bank management for 25 years. Melba is a graduate of Potomac State College and the West Virginia Banking School.
“I have worked for two other banks prior to coming to work for Capon Valley Bank,” said Thorne. “I’m proud to continue serving our customers with the personalized service they’ve come to expect from CVB.”
Amy Bender has been promoted to Branch Manager of the upcoming Winchester North location, set to open in late 2025. Amy joined Capon Valley Bank on April 10, 2023, following a 27-year career with CNB Bank, Inc. A graduate of James Wood High School, she also attended and graduated from the prestigious Barrett School of Banking in Memphis, Tennessee.

Tanya Rosenberry joined Capon Valley Bank on April 7, 2025, as Branch Manager of the Stephens City location. With 35 years of experience in banking, Tanya is a graduate of Warren County High School in Front Royal, Virginia, and has completed numerous courses through the American Banking Association.
